The Breiðidalur area is known for its nice weather and the numerous walking paths available. Go rock-collecting amongst the beautiful hyalite formations in the south of the valley, or fishing in one of 3 surrounding rivers.
Afterwards, relax in the sauna and round off the evening by the fireplace in the sitting room, or take a short walk to the nearby swimming pool, which is equipped with a hot tub.

Hotel Staðarborg is a beautiful, new hotel in the heart og eastern Iceland, located on Highway #1 in the valley Breiðdalur. The distance from Reykjavík is 625 km and 100 km from Seyðisfjörður. Hotel Staðarborg is formerly the schoolhouse in Breiðdalur which has now been thoroughly renovated and can accommodate 54 people in 30 spacious rooms. Café Sumarlína is a small café and restaurant in fáskrúðsfjörður. Sumarlína offers various types of coffe, coco, cakes, bread and a outstanding menu.
Sumarlína is located down by the small boat harbor and you can enjoy your meal out on the porche, with a breathtaking wiew over the fjord.
sumarlína is open all year around from 11:00-22:00. The grill closes at 21:00. At weekwnds the Café is open until 03:00

Our rooms are situated in two historical buildings from the turn of the 19th century, which are divided into two hotels; Hótel Aldan and Hotel Snæfell. In these two buildings we offer 18 beautiful rooms, each with its own unique soul and characteristics.

Hotel Aldan

Hotel Aldan used to house the bank of Seydisfjordur for almost a century and before that one of the best hotels in Iceland. All efforts has been made to preserve the historical atmosphere while adding modern convenience.

In 1898 the hotel had 19 rooms, one serving as a dancehall and a dining room. Since the hotel has been restored to it's former splendour we now offer 7 double and 2 triple rooms.

In most of the rooms there is space for an extra bed and furthermore it is possible to arrange accommodation for a family of five persons in one of our rooms.

Due to the flexible architectural layout several rooms can be combined so they either form suites or family rooms for 4 to 6 persons, without adding any extra beds.

Hotel Snæfell

Hotel Snæfell a three story wooden house built in 1908 situated by the mouth of the river "Fjarðará". It has beautiful views over the small bay in the center of town. This natural estuary is home to birdlife, trout and the occasional Atlantic Grey Seal. The house was first used as the local post office and then in 1943 it was turned into a hotel. Through the years it has played many a role. A shoemaker workshop was there for a few years also the taxi station and a large restaurant. The house also served as a home to several families before becoming a hotel. Among many of the people living there was Ingi T. Lárusson one of Iceland´s foremost composers.

In Vopnafjörður, in the beautiful Hofsárdalur, stands the old ancestral farm Bustarfell. This turf house with red gables and grass-grown roof is one of the oldest and best preserved farms of its kind in Iceland.The house preserves much history about Iceland and its people. A visit to the Museum at Bustarfell is a journey through the history of farming and changes in lifestyle from the beginning of the 18th century to the mid-20th century.

 The lovely coffee shop at Bustarfell, named hjáleiga or Croft. In the past, small farms were formed from parts of larger farms and worked by crofters living in small turf cottages. The name “Croft Café,, is in the spirit of this tradition.

The Croft Café is open daily during the summer.
Enjoy our coffee, bread and cakes. Icelandic Stew soup available.
